FAQ for Students and Customers
Here are a few answers to questions that you, as students and customers, may have regarding the closing of Twisted Dance:
What if I have an active TDS class card? Will I be refunded for my remaining credits?
All unexpired passes not used will be for the remaining classes that we are offering through December 19. We will send a check to all students who are due reimbursement at the end of December. Reimbursement examples are given below.
1. Classes left on class passes – reimbursed for each day left on the pass, see examples:
a. $74 (8-class pass), 3 classes left = $27.75
b. $104 ($12-class pass) at student rate ($83.20 paid) & 8 days left = $55.47
2. Days left on monthly passes – Percentage of pass equal to unused days left in the month: (for example, $82 (month pass) with 5 days left to expire = $13.67)
What if I bought a Living Social pass and haven't redeemed it yet?
Living Social commitments will be honored for all passes activated before the deal’s expiration. Starting Jan 2, classes offered at Break’N Out by Twisted Dance instructors will accept Twisted Dance Living Social dancers. Only bellydance and Martial Arts class are included, as they are taught by Twisted Dance instructors.
What classes will you offer at Break'N Out Dance Studio-- will they be the same offered currently at Twisted Dance?
We will continue to offer beginner and intermediate bellydance, ATS® bellydance, Bellyfit®, and Filipino Martial Arts. Our schedule will be solidified by early January.
Hoop classes will be discontinued as our lovely instructor Jessica will be moving out of state in mid-December (we will miss you, Jessica!)
Who are these Break'N Out people? Do they have the same vibe as Twisted Dance?
Break’N Out is located at 2835 Battleground Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27408, just past the strip mall with “Ross” (heading north on Battleground) and is owned Ashley Callahan, who is assisted by her mother, Deborah. Their studio history & outlook on dance somewhat parallels ours at Twisted Dance. They want dance to be enjoyable for itself and are inclusive and supportive of everyone that wants to learn. They have a number of classes for both kids and adults. The adult classes include Ballet, Tap/Jazz & Modern, Salsa, Couples Ballroom, & Adult Beginner Hip Hop.
How much will Twisted classes at Break'N Out cost?
Twisted classes at Break'N Out will be under the BNO cost structure -- $10 per class, drop in only, cash or check only, paid upon arrival.

Dear Students, Supporters, and Followers:
As of December 31, 2013, Twisted Dance Studios will close its doors permanently, with classes ending on December 19 (as we are typically closed for the holidays). It is with a heavy heart and deep regret that we make this announcement, as we greatly wish to continue serving our students and encouraging the fun, fitness, and friendship that's been the core and mission of our studio for the last three years.
Since we opened in February 2010, many of you have taken classes with us as a fun way to get off of the couch, as a way to make new friends, or as a way to try something different -- to challenge yourselves a bit more than the day-to-day grind allows. Some students, supporters and followers have been with us from the beginning, having come over to us from our former incarnation, Studio 318. Some of you have popped in and out when your schedule allowed. Some of you follow us and attend our public performances and shows. Some of you grew from "baby" bellydancers to full-fledged performers under our care. Some of you we haven't seen in awhile, but follow our comings and goings through our newsletter or Facebook page (and we hope to see you soon!).
And for choosing us, we'd like to say thank you. So, thank you!
Let us assure you: the decision to close the studio is purely economic. Our passion for movement, be it bellydance, martial arts, hoop, or any other movement-based art, has not weakened. However, under the current economic conditions, passion is difficult to sustain as a business. We have tried very hard to keep our doors open because we feel strongly about creating a safe space for bellydance and other forms of movement in our community. Although we have to close our studio, we will continue to create that space, albeit in a different place and under different circumstances.
While we're sad about the studio closing, we're very happy to say that we will be joining forces with Break 'N' Out Dance Studio in Greensboro. Lynn Hoffman, Twisted Dance Studio owner, currently teaches a beginner bellydance class at Break 'N' Out on Mondays, and many of our studio offerings and teachers will be transitioning their classes over to Break 'N' Out in the new year, as well.
With that in mind, we will continue to send out our monthly newsletter with information on our class offerings, when and where we will be teaching and performing, so stay tuned! We will also continue to update our Facebook page and website with class and performance schedules. Expect to see our professionals and student troupes performing at your favorite Triad festivals and events -- we're in the beginning stages of planning a spring hafla, so keep on the lookout for more details on that as well!
In other words: We may be closing our studio doors, but WE aren't going anywhere. Hopefully, we'll see you soon!
Best shimmies from all of us,
Twisted Dance Studios
